I just want to say Merry Christmas to everyone. Hopefully everyone reading this is well and happy. The children have had a cold for the last 3 weeks so I hope they will be well tomorrow - I am sure having lots of presents to open will give them some energy, although they both cried this morning because it hadn't snowed and so they think Father Christmas cannot come. I wear eyeglasses and I have not changed the ones that I have for a long time. It just seems to expensive to me, so I haven't even bothered having my eyes tested. Unfortunately there just does not seem to be a market for the Topsy and Tim books anymore so I have decided to mine down from Amazon and have put them in my children's bookcase. It is nice that at least they can enjoy them. I have loved selling them and reading them beforehand (!) but I will no longer be buying them, unless my sons fall in love with them. Unfortunately in the current economic climate I cannot take a risk on books which tend not to make me a profit. Such a shame but I need to keep making money!

I have always wanted to travel around Europe more. I have been to Spain several times but I would love to go to France, Germany and Italy as well. I have recently been looking at the Tuscany area as I found something on a TV show about the region and it looked beautiful. There are some lovely holiday villas and it would be fantastic to buy a second home there and holiday there often, perhaps renting it out some of the time.

As a Mum of twins I often think that it is more of struggle to lose weight. Not only did I get much bigger in pregnancy and I seem to not be able to shift my tummy,, but also I am faced with other double problems. There are twice as many left overs for me to graze on and I have less time for exercising, meal planning and shopping. It is always interesting to me that in one book Topsy and Tim had a new brother. He was adopted (I think like Tansy was) but unlike Tansy, who appears in some books, he does not appear in any other books. Neither of them appear in later publications but someone the children know has a new baby instead. I often wonder why these books were not reprinted as adoption is an issue which is important to a lot of people.

RV vacation

My husband has always been interested in motorhomes. I have never really fancied the idea until we went to a festival and I thought how nice it would be to have somewhere to have a cup of tea during the day and then be able to go straight back to bed in comfort rather than having to drive some distance home first. Once I got a bit interested, we went to a sales room and took a look at some of the RV's on offer and some of them seemed more luxurious than my house! It was then that I really started thinking about where I would like to go with an RV.

Apart from the festival that I mentioned, I thought it would just be fantastic to go off every Friday evening and drive somewhere different for the weekend. Get away from it all and relax in the countryside, by the beach or in a fun city. To be able to just drive and not worry about booking somewhere to stay or stopping anywhere for meals, would be great. It would also make all journeys cheaper as we would not have to stop for expensive service station food.

I think my most ideal trip would be through USA, to Zion and Bryce National Parks and then to the Grand Canyon. I have visited these before and really enjoyed them but that was before I was married and I would really like to take the family there. I also only stayed for a day or so at each and it would be great to stay there longer and have the chance to watch the sun rising and setting there and do some great hikes. So what would you ideal holiday be if you had a comfortable motor home to help you to relax?

It is so strange that as they were growing up my sons would not accept that they were twins. Now, when we read Topsy and Tim, I ask them if Topsy and Tim are twins they say no but if I ask them if they are, they say yes. I think perhaps they think that it means the same as brother, rather than being born at the same time. I guess it may become easier to explain when they get older!

Industry experts have stated that a further interest rate cut in April has been made much more likely as a result of the tight loan lending conditions in place in the UK at present. The Treasury Select Committee recently asked the governor of the Bank of England, Mervyn King, whether an April cut was more likely because of credit conditions, and King replied 'yes'. Many industry experts had been predicting that the next rate cut would be in May, with interest rates having been cut in December and again in February.

Whilst the Bank of England has now suggested that the interest rate could come sooner rather than later, King also reiterated that the central bank would not be taking the same drastic action as the US Federal Reserve, which has slashed interest rates from 5.25% to just 2.25%, shaving a massive 3% off the base rate in a period of six months. The US Federal Reserve has taken this action in the hope of staving off recession.

Not only are mortgages being affected by the credit crunch but recent moves to cut back on the banks exposure to bad credit with credit cards has met nationwide disaproval.

One industry professional said that the situations in England and America were very different, and that the UK economy was not at risk to the same level as the US economy. Howard Archer from Global Insight stated: 'We now expect the Bank of England to trim interest rates by a further 25 basis points to 5% in April rather than in May as we had previously forecast. Further out, we expect interest rates to fall to 4.5% by the end of the year and to 4% in the first half of 2009.' He went on to say that the situations between the two countries was very different, adding: 'This is not an economy that has ground to a halt.'
